MOURNE WEEKEND: Mourne Wall Part 2 & The Mourne Cottages (18th Sept 2021)

On a mid Spetember Weekend, the Mournes were illuminated and comforted by the warmth of the sunshine to welcome Trekking NI back for another go at the Mourne Wall! The A group met up at Carrick Little which gazed into a heavenly blue ocean that appeared to become one with the sky on the horizon. We traded this bliss for a ride on the Black Sheep Roller-Coaster with Meelmore the destination where we met up with the rest of the pack. The main trek took us up Slieve Bearnagh, along Hare's Gap and up Commedagh before conquering Donard then returning to Carrick Little. The three groups took different variants of this trek and everybody had a great time. The Mourne's were quite busy this weekend which provided a lively atmosphere, though we had the latter part of the journey to ourselves. After our hike, some of our members reunited at beautiful cottages in the Mourne's where we spent the night. We arranged catering and dined outside in the garden into the night. We talked with each other under the night stars before sitting together before an open lit fire in one of the cottages. The next morning, we had breakfast in the sun with the soothing lullaby of the nearby river in the background bringing our weekend to a blissful close... although there were two that adventured back into the mountains to the “Blue Lough” and beyond... but that is another story...
