Trekking NI have enjoyed another adventurous year filled with memorable experiences, plentiful laughter and friendship. During our epic adventures we witnessed majestic waterfalls, serene mountain ranges, epic away trips and fun nights out.
We began our year locked out of a snowy Glenarriff Forest and with some creative car parking we got in to enjoy the spectacular forest together. Our next adventures saw days of glorious winter sunshine in the Mournes and Scrabo as well as an encounter with a furious rainstorm of “horizontal rain” during a very windy Annalong Valley hike. During Spring we enjoyed a marvellous countryside walk amongst the Dromara Hills, a wonderful Easter visit to Gortin Forest in Tyrone, a scramble up Ben Crom waterfalls and a fantastic day out at a sunny Rathlin Island. Spring was concluded with a Weekend Trip to the fabulous Wild Atlantic Way at Co Mayo enjoying the immaculate beaches, heavenly landscapes and fun nights out with courgette based drinks. Summer featured an array of of challenging hikes including the Mighty Muck, Slieve Donard and Eagle Mountain before finishing with an epic trip Ben Nevis. Our Autumn outings included a trip to the beautiful Kilbroney Forest and our first ever sunset hike! A wonderful Christmas gathering was held in a buzzing Belfast before concluding the year with a Winter Wonderland hike in The Mourne’s.
Many great experiences were had together in 2022… but great experiences are not meant to be described, they are meant to be lived. 2023 will bring new experiences and new friendships will be made. The club have many exciting adventures lined up this year and together members will make memories to be treasured.
Have a great year everybody!!!
