Walk Programme

Grading system

We aim to offer 3 different grades of hikes each weekend to suit different levels of capability. This is however subject to group numbers and leader availability on any given weekend.

The grading system below is for guidance purposes only. Full details of distance, ascent and terrain for each grade will be advised prior to each walk.

GRADE C: A slower paced hike and good starter point for anyone taking their first steps in the mountains. A decent level of fitness is still required. Hikes are usually between 8-12km and up to 600m of ascent, and will usually take in a single peak on mainly mountain tracks and paths. Most will involve between 3-5 hours on the mountains.

GRADE B: A slightly more strenuous hike where a good level of fitness is required. Hikes are usually between 12-15km and between 500-1000m of ascent, and will involve 2-3 peaks on varied terrain. Most will involve 3-5hours on the mountains.

GRADE A: a strenuous and more challenging hike where a higher level of fitness is required. Hikes are usually around 15-20 km or more with circa 1000-1500m of ascent, and will involve multiple peaks and varied terrain. Most will involve at least 5 hours in the mountains.
